CONFIGURATION / REALIZATION:

The purpose of this phase is to implement all the business process requirements based on the Business Blueprint.

With the completion of the Blueprint phase, Functional Consultants are now ready to begin configuring SAP.

The Realization phase is broken into two parts:

  • Baseline Configuration: Functional team starts configuring the system based on the information provided in the blueprint document.

  • Final/Fine Tuning Configuration: The remaining configuration that was not tackled during the baseline configuration is completed during the fine tuning configuration. Fine tuning usually deals with the exceptions that are not covered in baseline configuration.

FINAL PREPARATION:

Final Preparation stage concentrates on testing for all the work done in the Realization Phase. In this phase the functional team also concentrates on the fine tuning of your configuration before Go-live and more importantly, the migration of data from old system or systems to SAP.

Generally this phase includes the 4 following stages:

  • Unit Testing: Functional team members start testing their respective modules.

  • Integration Testing: This stage deals with complete testing of all the modules to check the integrity of the modules within themselves.

  • User Training & Testing: End user of each module will be provided training by corresponding module functional consultant. End user training manual and documents has to be prepared. Finally sign off should be taken form the client for all the Training Documents and Manuals.

  • Cut-Over Strategy: Before Go-Live phase, it's important to transfer all legacy data into the SAP system. During Cut-Over period, the master data and transaction data from legacy system will be migrated to SAP System. There are various tools available for this purpose such as LSMW, BDC, SCAT, etc.

GO-LIVE & HYPER CARE:

The purpose of this phase is to move from a project-oriented, pre-production environment to live production operation.

Providing sustained support to business users to aid their transition into the new environment is called Hyper Care phase. After Go-Live the system is kept under monitoring for support for a small period called Hyper Care.
